The Corner Pot
The Corner Pot - oil/panel - 5"x5" - sold
This is the last of three little studies I made in the back garden a couple of days ago starting with ' The Old Watering Can'.
With this piece above I was drawn to all the various strong positive and negative shapes created by the intense light and I worked quickly to capture them before the sun moved along its path westwards and cast this whole corner of the patio into shade.
Tomorrow morning I am heading off to beautiful Barcelona for a week and do hope to create some work while there. May get a chance to post one more piece made here before I hit the road.

The Old Watering Can
The Old Watering Can - oil/panel - 7"x5" - sold
Created this small study the day before yesterday.
The Watering Can had been catching my attention for a couple of days sitting all proud on the small garden wall by the grass.
So, palette in hand, I crept out in the early morning and worked quickly to capture the atmosphere and light.
Hope you like it.

Urn
Urn - oil on canvas - 12"x10" - sold (image to be updated soon)
Created this piece in the studio late last night after painting outdoors all day yesterday.
During the last couple of months I have been working mostly from my studio, and while this can be a great space, it is a welcome change getting outdoors to paint.
Plein air painting is very energizing - the changing light and atmosphere make it a really exciting challenge and a great contrast from the controlled environment of a studio space.
As you can see I didn't make it to Barcelona on Tuesday morning but no matter because the summer is surely here.
Made three plein air studies yesterday while basking in the late spring/summer light.
Looking forward to posting these images over the next couple of days.
As you know Most of my work is created in one sitting but with this piece above I feel the addition of a couple of glazes may more accurately describe and capture the impression of the ceramic.
Will post a new photo of the work shortly and let you know.
Plan to leave for Spain this coming Monday - fingers crossed!

Still Life in Green and Red
Still Life in Green and Red (tribute to Chardin) - oil on canvas - 12"x10"
The last couple of weeks have been so busy and geared mostly towards my Solo Show which left me with little time to paint.
Just set the exhibition down over the weekend and am so delighted with the response to the work over the couple of weeks.
The show has been a near sell out with 37 pieces sold to date!
By 8.30pm on the opening night 25 pieces had been purchased! - I really cant begin to tell you all how great it is to feel I have connected with people on such a level.
The most rewarding thing is all the beautiful comments left in the visitors book. They are something I will cherish for ever - so a big thank you to all for your kind and encouraging comments - they mean a lot to me.
People have been calling into my family home to view works from the show as well as other larger landscape paintings etc. Perhaps tonight I will post a selection of available paintings for purchase in an album on my facebook page.
This blog has now been updated with regards to availability so if you see anything you like feel free to contact me for pricing at info@richardhearns.com or you can give me a call at (INT) + 353 (0)86 216 1135.
Just completed the piece above late last night and am now hoping to fly to Barcelona tomorrow morning for a week so don't think I will be posting any works until my return.
Plan to paint over there as much as is possible and of course to raid the museums and art shops!
