Just put the last finishing touches to these beautiful Frangipani flowers. These flowers are found all over Koh Mak - an island off the south west coast of Thailand that I have been traveling to for the last number of years.
Using just one broad round brush I painted - to capture the shape and essence of this magnificent flower.
The beautiful reddish hue and the way the light fell across the shape of this pear just cried out to me to be painted - immortalised! I took a really 'passive' approach to the application of paint, the colouring and composition.
Daisies - oil/panel - 5"x5" - sold This piece was made in the north east of Thailand during my recent trip. I just loved the arrangement of the daisies in the little white ceramic.
Composition with Garlic -Really enjoyed the painterly approach I took with this still life. The painting contains a huge variety as regards application of paint and brush strokes.
These last few pieces have been really rewarding to create. My application of paint is more fluid and am really concentrating on establishing a strong tonal range and composition.
Still have a number of miniture pieces created on my recent travels aboard that I am just putting the final touches to. Hope to get them posted within the next week.

Welcome.
What I love about painting is the alchemy that can be achieved: the coming together of inspiration and vision which is then transmuted through form, tone, colour, line and atmosphere to create something beautiful and enduring.
Fervent use of notebooks and constant sketching during my extensive travels abroad proved a great foundation. It was from these notebooks and sketches that my Art naturally developed into more finished pieces.
The development of my 'sketches in oil', alongside my larger finished paintings are consistently introducing an extra level of energy to my Art practice. This fresh approach allows me to really develop with each painting I create and explore and experiment freely with different aspects of the Fine Art process.
