soldHeightened atmostphere is what I was looking to achieve with this piece. By using the oil paint in this 'impressionistic' manner I believe has given the object a kind of 'atmosphereic' quaility. Painters like Turner captured a strong sensation and atmostphere in what they painted.
Painters like Monet would have laid down paint in a similiar way. On finishing my painting I was reminded of an Irish painter who uses the same kind of vertical strokes. I just cant think of his name!!
